Painting holiday in Italy 2019

Drawing and painting in Abruzzo on the east coast of Italy in a historic hilltop village with panoramic views of the mountains and the sea.

We organize groups of 6-8 artists staying in village houses in Spoltore, close to Pescara airport and the sea. Tasty local cuisine and wine is provided whilst you immerse yourself in a real italian painting and drawing experience.

Course structure and excursions On at least two days we will make excursions to a market, an oil press, another village or the countryside outside the
village. Here artists can experiment with different mediums, sketch, take photos and do more finished work. The tutor will give a briefing after breakfast and some demonstrations on techniques, providing handouts to read later. and will be onhand throughout the day. We cover themes such as choosing a subject, making a compostion, identifying tones in monochrome and colour and information gathering for future studio work

Accommodation, food and drink
Our painting holidays are based in the historic
centre of Spoltore on the Adriatic coast where many of the houses are built on old catacombs and over tunnels leading down from the castle.
We have three village houses that have been modernised to provide comfortable bedrooms with either en-suite bathrooms or shared bathrooms/shower rooms. Dining is either in the dining room or outside on the terrace with stunning views of the Grand Sasso mountains.
A continental breakfast is provided. Lunch is cooked by our chef or a picnic is provided if we are on an excursion.

Tutor
Angela Brittain SWA is your principal tutor for your painting and drawing holiday. Angela paints full-time from her studios in Horsham and
Spoltore and exhibits with the Society of Women Artists, the United Society of Artists and several London Gallerys.
